How to change, withhold, or release your information

Columbia University faculty and staff
Columbia staff and faculty can edit their personal contact information and change the way it appears in the online directory via the People@Columbia web forms.

  1. Access my.columbia.edu.
  2. Click on the link that says Log in with your Columbia UNI.
  3. Enter your UNI and Password.
  4. Click on the Faculty & Staff tab.
  5. Find the "People @ Columbia - Self Service" section of the page.
  6. Click on the "Update your personal information" link, then follow the instructions on that page.
  7. Remember to logout when you are done changing your information.

Please note that if you need to change your name, title, or other sensitive information, you will need to contact your Human Resources representative.

Columbia University students (including full-time staff taking classes!)
The online directory lists name, affiliation, and e-mail addresses for all Columbia students. It provides addresses only for those in Morningside Campus residence halls, unless otherwise requested. You may update your address via Student Services Online.

If you wish to withhold your information from the Online Directory, you may fill out a Request to Withhold Directory Info form and send it to the University Registrar. For full-time Columbia students, this will remove all of your information from the Online Directory regardless of any other systems you may appear in. However, if you are a full-time employee, or if you are primarily enrolled at Barnard, Teachers College, or another affiliated institution, this will remove only your Columbia student information from the Online Directory and not your primary information. If your information has been withheld from the Online Directory and you wish to reinstate it, you may fill out a Request to Reverse Withholding of Directory Info form and send it to the University Registrar.

Barnard faculty and staff
Faculty should contact the Provost's Office (212-854-2708 or provost@barnard.edu). Staff should contact HR (212-854-2551 or hr@barnard.edu).

Teachers College faculty and staff
Faculty and staff may make changes to their contact information themselves by going to info.tc.columbia.edu. To make changes to your name, title, or department, contact Human Resources.

Barnard students
Barnard students who wish to change or withhold their information should contact the Registrar's office by phone: 212-854-2011, fax: 212-854-0366, or email: registrar@barnard.edu

Teachers College students
Teachers College students who wish to change or withhold their information should contact the Registrar's office by phone: 212-678-4050, fax: 212-678-3005, or email: registrar@tc.columbia.edu

All others
Faculty or staff at other institutions should contact their Human Resources department for further information. Students should contact their Registrar's office.
